Key scripture: Matthew 6:19-21
In the parables of the talents and the parable of the minas, we can argue that the servants kept the gain from the proceeds of their trade.(Luke 19:24)
Profit in the same way, the master commended the two servants that made profiting the same way. This put emphasis on their attitudes and willingness to work for the master rather than their achievements.
So if we agree that Christ is the master, we are the servants to be commended on our faithfulness to the varying levels of responsibility, then it is fair to say that the talent and whatever profit we make from it belongs to us.
In Matthew 6: 19-21 the master reminds us that our attitude to the kingdom business is very important and a good indicator to the treasure we end up with at his coming! When we focus on building the kingdom with our talent and gifts, we are storing up treasures in heaven. Luke 19:26 states that every unused talent will be given to those who have profited with their own talent.
When we are faithful in the masters business, we will be entrusted with our own riches,(Luke 16:10-12). Writer- Min Doyin Fanimo
